The goal of a small group is to make disciples.
Matthew 28:18-20
18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
The best way to make disciples and be a disciple is by committing yourself to a small group of individuals who passionately seek Christ through a commitment to His Word, a commitment to the church body (not a building), and a commitment to personal sanctification through openness and vulnerability. Small groups are designed to connect you to a community of believers on an intimate level that can’t be accomplished in a large congregational setting.
Small group discipleship is not easy, and it does not come without discipline. As the group becomes more comfortable with one another and with the routine of meeting, it will be easy to slip into more of a self-help mindset or a 12-step program that looks to gain Christian information over spiritual transformation. Please make a commitment to God, yourself, and your group to be disciplined in your effort to study God’s Word, to be vulnerable and honest, and to be present on a regular basis.
It is our prayer that you grow in discipleship.
